Concrete vs Asphalt

Concrete driveway installation is more expensive than asphalt driveway installation. On the other side, asphalt-paved driveways need a lot more upkeep over time to be secure. At the very least, asphalt driveways need to be sealed every three to five years. Even if a DIY homeowner is able to seal every window on their own, it will still be expensive and time-consuming. Before being parked on the sealer, a car must also dry for at least two days. A freshly asphalted driveway shouldn't be sealed for at least 6 to 9 months since the light oils associated with asphalt must first dissipate. A driveway that was concreted too rapidly will always be soft.

Asphalt driveways don't have to be black, and concrete driveways don't have to be off-white. Concrete and asphalt driveways can be painted in a variety of colors. First, discuss the color selections for your driveway project with any prospective paving contractors.

If maintained properly, an asphalt driveway can last up to 30 years. Driveways made of concrete may survive much longer. Both, however, demand the creation of a solid foundation. If not constructed on a solid foundation, both will eventually crack, especially in colder areas. Asphalt cracks are easier to patch than cracks in concrete driveways.

The slope of the driveway should be taken into account while looking at concrete driveways. Over time, the base that concrete roads are built on can split from them, leading to ugly fractures.
